We aim to be a BLESSING to young people, enabling them to BELONG to the church family, where they will be challenged to BELIEVE in Christ and BECOME mature in their faith, BRINGING heart felt worship to God

 

We highly value our young people and aim to provide quality credible opportunities for them to examine faith, grow in faith, or just hang out!

W.G.W. – Wearing God’s Wellies  
Sundays             10.30-12pm       Yr 7+8

WGW is the group for school years seven and eight. It meets on a Sunday morning during the 10:30am service for teaching, fun and friendship. It is lead by a team of leaders who help the young people to explore the Christian faith together.  From time to time we hold social events and are currently investigating the possibility of going away on a weekend residential.

Small Groups – Horizon - Mondays        7.45 – 9.15pm         Yr9 +
                           Oasis - Tuesdays            7.45-9.15pm      Yr9+

Currently we have two youth small groups, Horizon and Oasis, which aim to provide places of teaching, personal growth and friendship. The groups have a varied programme including socials, teaching, worship and food. All the groups have an open door policy so you can dip your toe in with no pressure to sign up. They are a great place to get to know people of your own age better and have fun time learning about Jesus. A programme of teaching is planned with opportunities for the young people to lead an act of worship, and/or the session. Prayer, including seeking God for specific words is encouraged.

Zone  
Fridays           7.30pm-9.00pm      Yr 7+

The Zone project is a youth social club working with 11-16 years olds that was launched 18 months ago. It seeks to provide a safe place of non-academic achievement where young people can have fun, discovering new skills in creative areas that are not normally available to them. It is also a place where young people can interact with adults based on mutual respect. It is based around the idea of play, hoping to create a stimulating environment where young people can develop as individuals, taking part in a variety of activities, learning about themselves, others and the environment around them. Zone gives opportunities for young people to try something new and provides activities for young people to develop social skills through working together.

2nd & 4th Sundays    7pm   Open to all ages

L8 is part of the evening service structure at Christ Church . It is based on worship, teaching and fellowship. There is encouragement for trainee preachers, worship leaders and hosts to ‘have a go’. The service is committed to trying out new things and exploring different worship styles. The format of the evening often includes a break part way through for refreshments.

Time Away

As part of the youth work here at Christ Church we recognise the importance and significance of time away. To this end a number of opportunities are provided to enable young people to spend time together for building friendships, fun and learning together. WGW and the two youth groups aim to have one weekend residential per year. The young people organise to attend Soul Survivor annually and opportunities for members of Zone to spend time at a residential are also regularly explored. In every case cost is kept to a minimum, with cheaper venues sought. Where attendance would be difficult due to financial circumstances, every effort is made to assist young people attending.

The safety and welfare of our children and young people is paramount in all we do. To this end, we operate under a comprehensive Safeguarding Children policy with Criminal Records Bureau checks undertaken on all our leaders. We operate under the guidance of the Health and Safety policy and hold any information we request in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
